tourists only really seem worth using when theyre a lot fatter than what you have around them, because nobody really likes them.
dietician also becomes kind of useless by the later levels due to everyone being enourmous, relegating them to bloating (haha) the possible pool of passengers. i couldve gotten more chatterboxes or cooks but instead its a passenger that doesnt really like anyone
im not really sure what the mascot's dislike of "redundancy" means. does it mean having multiple passengers per car? just duplicates next to the mascot? passengers that score 0 points? its not very clear.
the game kinda outscales itself by the time you reach the mid twenties. i really wish i could get an ending or something.
Mascot redundancy just means they don't get any points from being next to other mascots. Good eye on the tourist and dieticians though, different passengers are definitely better at different points in the game!
this is just a great game... but I had to translate through a translator to understand who doesn't like to sit in the train cars with whom, but having got used to it I think I will play it more often, since it doesn't require anything special
This is the most addictive gameplay loop I've ever had outside of tycoon and sandbox games. I have two humble suggestions if you wish to further develop this game: 1. Give out more information on passenger's tastes. I know that automatically calculating it would ruin the fun but I'd still like to still know at least each pro and con instead of vague statements like "The dietitian doesn't like fat people". 2. I keep getting a game over right around station 22 where the game wants me to get ~1400 points. Even when I place all of my passengers at optimal spots (assuming I even have the people to do such optimizations), I find it difficult to make much above 1200 and it makes me feel like I'm either losing due to RNGesus or the Devs didn't want/expect me to get there, neither of which is fun. Unless there's an ending scene around station 25, I'd be down for some kind of upgrade mechanic or some rougelike-style artifacts that help with getting points if you do XYZ.
Also my favorite passengers are the "I can't believe they're not the floor-men from stair-bund" Chatterboxes. Not only do they make me think of Teddypimm's most Impregnated Dryad & Pathfinder 2E's newest core ancestry, but I can get 200 points off of one by cramming them together and I feel arousal from that alone!
Only manage to reach station 27, if you guys ever plan to update the game in the future please consider some upgrade system, something like increasing the size of the cart or buy more carts, and maybe an upgrade to increase the overall weight of the passengers because later down the line it feels like it will be base on luck whenever you got big enough passengers for big enough points or not.
Btw, I think version 1.2 isn't available for download, as the dev log post says.
After all, I found a weird way to play in case anyone else wants to replicate it if their resolution isn't big enough like mine
I flipped my screen to portrait mode. I had to flip the monitor and drag the page constantly, since it was less wide, obviously, but it let me play after all. Above all, it let me see the buttons to start the game and move to the next stations. That's how I got to station 22.
It's a very good game, and I agree with several people. Something interesting to implement would be a gallery and even larger sizes
I also hope you make an update, even if it's a post-jam update, to fix the resolution issue, or unless it's already included in the aforementioned version 1.2. but the truth is, I loved the game and its concept. Thanks, and I hope you win.
-someone who likes being next to people who are running late as it seems like kind of a redundant mechanic apart from joggers (actually in retrospect this might be a bad idea because itd encourage people to just hoard late passengers instead of actually playing the game properly. maybe they eat late passengers?)
-someone who fattens adjacent passengers, and prefers fatter passengers. maybe if their fattening exceeds the capacity of the cart, something happens?
-in addition to this, maybe this would make dietician make adjacent passengers skinnier? idk
-maybe when holding a passenger, highlight passengers they like in green and ones they dont like in red
-gallery!!!!
-would probably be for a post jam addition since its complex, but i think upgrades from the excess points could be interesting. maybe higher capacity per cart, or more carts, or maybe temporary additions to carts that some passengers like (maybe a fan will prevent other passengers from being unhappy when a jogger gets sweaty, or a water cooler making employees happier, etc)
-i think the exit door needs to be communicated a little better, i thought it was part of the background at first and only discovered it on accident. maybe have it glow a little bit when you have a passenger ready to get off?
Had a bit of time to play this before work and after about 30 minutes or so of play, this is a REALLY fun game! I love the puzzle solving aspect of it and it's pretty unique in my opinion.
Really good game conceptually! Really love the idea of obese people trying their best to cram themselves into a cramped subway, the audio is also pretty superb! Gameplay wise it's really fun, and I will always praise games that don't make getting fatter/being large a downside, although at the later stations (15 onwards) it always gets really really hard for me to come up with proper combos, it gets kind of messy, and people's timers starts to pile up ontop of each other, especially when it's a skinny character crammed inbetween fatter one. The controls are also kind of an issue, I had no idea there were more carts up until my third run LOL, more clarity and better controls for the camera could be better in my opinion. The visuals are great as well schei knocked it out of the park with these ones. Great game overall and I honestly expect this one to win xPPP
This is pretty fun, for something casual to pick up! My only problem with the game is that I could only get to stage 23, and that's after playing the game 4-5 times (I can't recall how much I replayed it).
After the 1.2 update visually things manage well with the formatting for different computer screens. Games nice to play, unfortunately I am very unlucky so I was only ever able to get to station 21 before I gave up(also failed at station 0 once which broke me)
Sadly cannot hear what the announcer says sometimes, was maybe could there be subtitles later one? Perchance a UI change to know if a train cannot fit anybody else in so I am not seeing if the little introvert that could fit in the train car with 5 fat bitches
One request is a list that will show you all the possible combos but you only see the combos after performing them before.
Overall, nice game glad to see peeps still make games for the freaks and it have good potential, wish you good luck with the game jam and thank you for working on this each of ya! Slightly reminds me of a wario ware style game figuring out who goes best where as fast(or fat) as possible
Favorite characters: Tourists and introvert, and jogger
From what I got to play of it, it's a neat petite experience doing your best to figure out the best matches and seeing the passengers get bigger and bigger. Though I did have to figure out a lot of the mechanics from trial and error.
Farthest i got was, I think, station 27?
I didn't have any problems with the controls for sliding the screen left to right, though the timers for each passengers got difficult to notice once they began clipping over each other due to the larger passengers being next to the skinnier passengers.
My favorite designs have been the Mascot, the tourist, and the Dietician.
Loving the game, it's fun as an optimization puzzle and as a generator of lovely little scenarios...
Having a slight issue with adding people to nearly-full cars, though? Sometimes it seems like I'm unable to add someone to a car, but if I remove people then re-add those same people in a different order then it works? I'm not sure if it's a bug or just that the clickable areas are really specific, though? Maybe having a "this click will succeed"-type hover outline or something as you mouse around would help.
Works really well! :> I ran into no issues. Honestly I love imagining the dynamics between characters based on their interactions. I've gotten up to level 22.
Yum dot com! I wondily-wonder if there's gonna be a "gallery" feature as well for this'un, maybe as an unlockable for reaching level 15 or something suchlike... But then again, that'd probably take at least 3 days to code in, and deadline for submission is less than 24 hours away sooooo
Quick bug I found with dropping off passengers, if you click just below the exit stairs, you gain the points but the passenger gets back on the train, allowing you to gain infinite points as long as someone wants to get off.
It worked now with the full folder, easy to play, got to station 21 and enjoyed seeing their huge sizes. My only suggestion might be when you grab someone with 0 on the timer, you could have a soft glow on the stairs as i left them on the station, as i didnt know you could send them unless i looked at your gamepage text, everything else was easy to learn by myself. Great job.

protip: joggers give a bonus to dieticians even if they're overweight, and both cooks and tourists get a bonus from eachother(if overweight)
I like fatties :v
pyrocynical
Actually a masterwork of the medium
i cant download it ):
Did the download itself fail or is it an anti-virus false flag?
very happy that there's fat boys in this!

Still a great game nonetheless.
very lovely game
ok, so how do I download the update? The only option is the older v1.0 one that now doesn't even open on my pc
The resolution is so high that it won't let me start the game, is there any way to fix this
It should be adjusting to your monitor's resolution, but if the game doesn't even start there's not much I can do now that submissions are locked.
post jam version

Can't play, resizing window does not resize the game, and the options are off screen for me.

don't forget to submit it into the jam before the deadline.
Yup, just doing some QA testing before final submission!
I hope you don't do too much debugging, because the tourist is my favorite
Cleverino!
i cant even see the ENTIRE menu, but cool game.

Overall: cool little game-jam sized game.
That's a pretty good demo. I tested it and it's approved. Well, I want to see more.
is there a way to change the game's resolution? the screen extends past my monitor borders, and i dont see an options button to fix it
great game first run got to lvl 23
peak
i cant download it it says virus detected ;~;
I can't even unpack it.
Yeah false positives are pretty common with unverified programs.
Loving the game, it's fun as an optimization puzzle and as a generator of lovely little scenarios...

Awesome game, can't wait to see where development goes!
Hope we get more sizes and passangers, maybe some wagons with modifiers.
Works really well! :> I ran into no issues. Honestly I love imagining the dynamics between characters based on their interactions. I've gotten up to level 22.
My favorite one is the max size tourist <3
when i open the game i think its wayyy too big for me to be able to actually play, probably my monitor size? i cant hit any of the menu buttons
I would love to try this out if it had a web version (as my PC is super bad with downloading apps from a certain store)
Yum dot com! I wondily-wonder if there's gonna be a "gallery" feature as well for this'un, maybe as an unlockable for reaching level 15 or something suchlike... But then again, that'd probably take at least 3 days to code in, and deadline for submission is less than 24 hours away sooooo
booting up the game gives me a black screen; however, I fixed this with rendering in OpenGL 3. tho the screen size is way too big
your game doesn't appear under the Jams Submissions page, you might want to look into that
You only get to submit once so I'm waiting to fix bugs/issues that'll come up from this release for final submission.
the resolution is way too big i cant even start the game, it's stuck in the top left of the menu?
I'm gonna see if I can get some resolution settings in before the deadline.
Quick bug I found with dropping off passengers, if you click just below the exit stairs, you gain the points but the passenger gets back on the train, allowing you to gain infinite points as long as someone wants to get off.
Thank you for the bug report, we're gonna try to patch it out before our submission tomorrow.
When lauching i get the error [ERROR: couldnt load project data at path ",", is the .pck file missing?]
Forgot to upload everything, it should work now.
It worked now with the full folder, easy to play, got to station 21 and enjoyed seeing their huge sizes. hey just to let ya know the games isnt showing on the submissions for the jam, idk how youd fix that but i thought i should let ya know
Yeah you can't change stuff once you submit it so I'm holding off until tomorrow in case there are bugs.
