In a sense I see why tourist mode won't be added, since there is so much more content based on defense, It's still sort of annoying but I think enough people annoy you about it. It would be cool if there was a way to see when the slimes will attack next though.
Depends on who you're playing as. all the elevators only work if nothing is hanging off the sides, which pilot and her prodigious width has a much harder time of doing.
Once you destroy all the interference nodules you can use the teleporter hub to get out. If you're having trouble finding them the telepoeter hub can help with that as well.
Is the radio only being placable on solid ground intentional? I know it says you can't place it in front of platforms, but I doubt that means you can't place it on them. Unless it does?
Yes, the radio must be grounded. This is for the dual purpose of forcing more mindful placement for the end game objective and also preventing the frustrating situation of a very expensive building collapsing from one platform below getting destroyed.
Nice. Time to figure out how to get a good spot for the radio. Alas, I also already have that expensive building collapsing pain from just normal playing.
Okay, let me go on a rant, because I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had base demolishment because of the stupid overhang. It is the most evil thing in this game and I love and hate it. I love it because it's an early game trap and forces players to go farther out, I hate it because of how it's used in the cave.
The first overhang is the most difficult part of the game because of how close the slime nest is by comparison to the other slime nest. So it isn't really good to even remotely put anything underneath to mine crystals. The cave on the other hand, changes that and makes it more difficult. Your solar panels are useless, your wind turbines are nerfed. So you're left with crystals. Only problem is, again, slime nests right next to resources that you're going to get jumped by. So if you build anything, odds are it's going to be destroyed.
Then again this is my experience on hard mode. So overall it does feel challenging and punishing for any mistake.
So I just discovered a huge bug... The Red Slime flinger can move while the game is paused. Though it is under very specific circumstances. Due to the nature of pathfinding, the slimes can get... Stuck if there's a platform they can't reach. So they try desperately to hop back and forth in order to reach it. Though the one exception is the walking red slime sentry. This thing... Is pretty buggy. If you pause while it is flickering between walking one direction and another it will slide in the direction of its sprite.
Ah, there's the issue. For buildings you have to right click on the building itself. I tried making it a key initially but which building got interacted with was unclear sometimes without how wide the sprite gets so I went with right click instead.
honestly, the slimes ARE SO FUCKING OVERWHELMING, AND WHY ISNT THERE ANYTHING IN THE SETTINGS TO DISABLE THEM, THIS IS A GLARING ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSE
i wouldn't say it's a glaring issue, and they said they're working on difficulty settings; but yeah, i agree with the principle, i just wanna vibe lol. maybe the setting could just make it so they aren't hostile and don't damage structures? iunno :3
yeah, i get that; that's why i said the option could be to just make them nonhostile instead of outright gone. honestly, i'd be happy with just an easy mode lol
Non-hostile would have pretty much the same effect as having them be gone (I guess with added lag as they all piled up without being killed). Easy mode is coming though!
So has the old upgrading system been removed? I can't seem to just make what I already have placed better. I have to destroy it and put a whole new building there?
Yeah, the old system doesn't work now that you're considered to be touching every building the sprite covers instead of just the one in the middle. Plus the old system was a bit clunky with how larger buildings would only expand to the right anyway. An important exception are platforms, which can have the blueprint for upgrades placed and built on top of them.
im a huge fan of this game mechanic and i absolutely cant wait to see more! i played through the whole game and i am completely stumped where to put the "cheat code." how am i supposed to know??? ive never even seen where i could type in my own text in any of the menus!
what i like: the art and the sounds, and the subtle detail of the music getting more instruments the larger you are, very wii tanks or mariokart level selector vibes, and it also adds sections of calmness and crescendos to make it not repetitive! tho some more variety would of course be welcome. the building was good! i wouldnt say its very great but it works well enough. i love the detail of the animations, apart from.. dex annnnnnd.. (i fuckin forget her name, the other small one), not having much of any idle animation when small enough. must be so much work to do each and every amount of weight for all the movement! something these weight gain sprite games do to the motivation i bet, its gotta be so teadious. and for the sound, i love how may layers it has! slosh, groan, suit creaking, stomping, and it all changes slightly for each weight level! tho one thing, i wish the frequency of groans would get slightly more often the heavier you get. like, once every 1 or 3 seconds instead of the 5 or 8 seconds, just for the larger sizes. and more sound variety to make it even more organic and immersive! i also liked the dialogue, its got character and depth, each character has a personality, and its not super long and word vomit.
what i dont like: the power system. above all. it is so irritating that accumulators cannot work when they have overlapping s.o.i.'s i wish they didnt exist altogether. i wish each building would run power to each other all as one total power subgrid, separated only by gaps in buildings. as boring as that may be, that is the most effective and most convenient to work with. anything else just makes base building irritating, apart from using wires, either placed on a separate build layer or as one power pole that has a range to connect to other poles, and a range to connect to buildings, can act the same for a wireless concept as well. something i really think should be a building is an auto repair defence tower, because god forbid i have to rush back and forth and back and forth to make sure nothing is fucking breaking. speaking of, i never got the chance to use the energy based wall, because i couldnt be fucked to find a way for it to get power. another q.o.l. thing i would love to have is a building upgrade that unlocks automatically sending resources into the player storage. AUTOSAVE, PLEASE. WITH A CONFIGURABLE SAVE FREQUENCY, and naming save files. (thats where i assumed to be able to put the cheat code). A WORLD MAP, with enemy indicators would also help lots, if you dont decide to impliment an auto repair tower, and would be useful if both are added anyways. a faint building grid when about to place a building would also help a little.
all in all, this was a great experence regardless of the irritations. i really want to play more, see more map detail, more character detail, more story, more buildings, enemies (that mmmperhaps make you chonky? like a debuf fat amount, fat that isnt the bio energy? which also makes you more gurgly ~//v//~... ahem), more events! fuckin flesh it out man! im invested! i'll support on patreon if you have one!
edit: i think ive found where to put it!!! but.... what does it do.... lmao. i opened my save thats about 3/4ths of the way through the game and idks whats different lol
After getting the suggestion that maybe the other characters don't want to have to be apart of the situation (thanks KY25), I decided to play through the whole game (and remembered to save when I got super far) and managed to complete both the research table and upgrade station, as well as getting the radio tower and beating that part. I then wanted to figure out the code, because I now knew it but still didn't know where to put it. I figured maybe the controls menu because it has the same amount of letters as the code, but it didn't work. I might be completely off track, because the only hint I know of that tells you were you might be able to put the code in was talking about the menu. I'm not sure if that was changed by the time I'm playing this, or if I'm just blind. I am currently in the caves right now, trying to figure out whether or not it has at least a hint on where you can use the code, but keep getting demolished by the slimes which keep destroying my elevators and wind turbines.
I can now confidently say, my original opinion of the game was invalid, and I am now in love with this game, not counting the few flaws I've found with the game.
Didn't know I'd be stuck in the caves, so I saved over my file when I entered. I have a level 3 laser. I've restarted from this save 3 times, because I can't build a good enough defense before the third wave of slimes (second wave from the left side) comes in and destroys all my ground level resources and elevators. The only way I survive the second wave is by building on that crystal platform, then all the slimes from the right side stay under it and don't move away. Once I lose my ground level, I cannot get rid of the slimes before the next wave comes in. Is there a strategy for me to get out of here, or do I need to start a new save from scratch?
God, I keep seeing this game... and my social anxiety just skyrockets thinking about it.
Edit: I decided to give it a chance, and, without thinking about the others, managed to get to the final fat stage (I think) as well as fully completing the research table, but ended up losing all my progress because I accidently clicked on a load when I hadn't saved prior to getting it because I was trying to figure out the obscure hint for where the code can be put in. Rage quit and deleted the game for the 2nd time after that. (You know, the more games with save functions I play, the more I realize that I might be the issue, because this keeps happening. I played WoG, and got pretty far past the colossus or whatever that whatchamacallit was , but died, and got sent back to that fight, because I hadn't saved prior to dying, then this happened, and then today, I ended up rage quiting Chocola's tower or whatever it was because I died and hadn't saved, and lost 3 levels worth of progress, but I digress.)
There will be an easy difficulty, but no tourist like last time. The base defense aspect is much more important this time around and removing it leaves the game with massive chunks of downtime where you don't really do anything.
I wonder what kind of music our three explorers like to listen to... If alien music is in any way comparable to the stuff we Smelly Humans have available
If it's the regular elevator no. Elevators are only usable if they fully fit onto them, so at higher weights a freight elevator is needed due to how wide they are.
Soooooo, I got into the caves. But I forgot to place a teleporter hub on the surface, am I stuck down there or will the game just take me back somehow once I place a hub in the caverns?
I'm stuck in the caves. I've found 4 crystals, but I can't find the others. I keep seeing tile resources behind walls on the left and right too. Am I supposed to break something, or am I just blind?
You can use the teleporter hub to ping the direction of any remaining sources of interference. The stuff in the walls is just there for decoration, no way to break through.
Thank you. That helped me find one. I just gotta find out how to reach the second one now. Placing elevators everywhere so far, and still haven't quite found it
First off, really enjoyed the game, reminds a bit of Kingdom. But, I am curious, I did manage to finish the game but forgot to make a save before teleporting out. Does this mess up my ability to use the code or no? Also, never found the underground that others are talking about
Nah, the code can be used at any point during the game, even before you find it! As for the caverns, let's just say three particularly hefty individuals sure do weigh a lot when they're all in one spot...
I actually happened to find the cave soon after i posted as I started another run to have a end-of-game save. Still yet to figure out how or where to input the code tho
That's an idea I toyed around with for a bit but ultimately scrapped. Being able to fully power stuff without a generator was clunky and generally just took away from energy needed for building and research.
We really blaming Itch.io for Mastercard and Visa strongarming both them and Steam into oppressive policies? Ditching payment processors isn't an option without fucking over even vaster swaths of developers.
hey, love the game so far, though I've had an issue. How do I get out of the crystal caves? I placed a teleporter central hub on the overworld, and I cleared all of the crystals that block the teleporter signals, but I still get the "No Hub Detected" message when I try to teleport. This has happened in two different save files and I'm softlocked now. Am I doing anything wrong
That's a bit of unclear verbiage on my end, the regular teleporters go back to their area's hub, the hubs themselves are what let you teleport between areas.
so I'd have to make a teleporter hub in the overworld and underground? Does it have to be on the top layer and exposed to sunlight or how does it work? the wording is very confusing
No special requirements after the initial fall into the caverns and destruction of the interference nodes. Just build/power a teleporter hub and you can use it to teleport to the surface. The same applies if you ever want to back down to the caverns after you get out of them the first time.

i can't find the sprite sheets in the new patches
If I remember correctly, there's a version in the comments where you eat the slime instead

When player is at maximum weight, I can't use the freight elevator. Of course, I am still providing energy to the freight elevator. Is this by design?
Depends on who you're playing as. all the elevators only work if nothing is hanging off the sides, which pilot and her prodigious width has a much harder time of doing.
been loving the game since the first one and this one going even better than i imagined, tho i do need some help.......how do i get out of the cave
Once you destroy all the interference nodules you can use the teleporter hub to get out. If you're having trouble finding them the telepoeter hub can help with that as well.
Thank you so muuuch
ALSO, that cheat code input placement is so clever, mad props

All because of the overhang.
Yo!!! Let's go! I've been waiting for this!
Now I'm going to have to wait until later to play this unfortunately.
bug: you can open the build menu during the intro cutscene, and clicking "Build" creates an error
also, i can't pause nor move in the tutorial, making it incompletable
New version let's go!!!!!!!!!!!
bruh, I already softlock after being unable to interact with the research table (it literally just does not work)
You have to power it with an adjacent generator.
yeah, I did (I'm hitting the interact key and it does nothing, despite this.)
Ah, there's the issue. For buildings you have to right click on the building itself. I tried making it a key initially but which building got interacted with was unclear sometimes without how wide the sprite gets so I went with right click instead.

he sadly said he wont make an option/mode to disable the slimes since half the game is the slimes attacking

fair enough, i'm looking forward to it!
I can't wait for when V0.11.0 come out
I have a feeling that it will be a great update
Hello creator of this game i have a question when we can have a sprite sheet to edit the characters in game?
I'll be releasing sprite sheets with the update that allows for custom sprites to be used in the game.
So has the old upgrading system been removed? I can't seem to just make what I already have placed better. I have to destroy it and put a whole new building there?
Yeah, the old system doesn't work now that you're considered to be touching every building the sprite covers instead of just the one in the middle. I personally don't really like the slimes, will there be a tourist difficulty like in the last game?
There will be an easy difficulty, but no tourist like last time. The base defense aspect is much more important this time around and removing it leaves the game with massive chunks of downtime where you don't really do anything.
I personally enjoyed that, but I see what you mean.
Some people just enjoy the aspect of free base building, wish you can continue to ponder on the subject so there's a chance you add it
I wonder what kind of music our three explorers like to listen to... If alien music is in any way comparable to the stuff we Smelly Humans have available

No need for a hub to teleport to for switching between the caverns and the surface, you're good.
Thanks for clarifying
I'm stuck in the caves. I've found 4 crystals, but I can't find the others. I keep seeing tile resources behind walls on the left and right too. Am I supposed to break something, or am I just blind?

LOVING the game, one question tho....can you go immobile? cuz the dialogue keeps teasing about it lol
Nope, I would have to figure out how to balance around not being able to move before I could put immobility in.
thats fair, love the game still
an idea that could work you have much greater energy output so you can power stuff when not near anything that could power?
That's an idea I toyed around with for a bit but ultimately scrapped. Being able to fully power stuff without a generator was clunky and generally just took away from energy needed for building and research.
I'm glad the new policies don't seem to have affected this game, but fuck itch.io anyway.
We really blaming Itch.io for Mastercard and Visa strongarming both them and Steam into oppressive policies? Ditching payment processors isn't an option without fucking over even vaster swaths of developers.
Doesn't mean itch is without fault.
I don’t think itch has an option when they have servers, bills and staff they have to pay to keep the service running
hey, love the game so far, though I've had an issue. How do I get out of the crystal caves?
